Mersea island beat 3rd placed Thetford in a 13 try thriller Mersea 60 Vs Thetford 24

Mersea island have started the year 2015 with a bang beating Swaffham the week before, Club Captain Jon Williams stating during the week that the team needed to carry on with that performance into a game we all knew would be hardly fought out against a very good Thetford outfit.
Mersea scored 10 tries in this encounter with Brendan Cook scoring in the first half along with Rob Pickard after some quick feet and soft hands from Fly half Matt White. Eddie Smith scored 2 scorching tries during the game showing his pace along with Matt Wilkin getting over the line. Matt Rose added to his tally from the week before having scored 2 more this game whilst he scored 3 against Swaffham. the pack must really have a mention here as it was there hard work and sheer determination that got Mersea on

[/centre][/centre]the front foot and allowed the backs to use the ball well. There was almost a 11th try when Matt White came back on as a winger for the injured Wilkin, he had a huge task ahead of him however he managed to use quick feet and a tantalizing side step to get around his opposite number it was a straight line race from his own 5 meter line unfortunately he ran out of steam as he arrived at Thetfords 22 and got bundled into touch by some retreating Thetford players.
Jon Williams quoted after the game 'Tremendous victory today! 10 try win against a team in 3rd place. Everyone played their part today in the best team performance of the season......Im well chuffed'
